Effect of the insertion depth of ladle shroud on the fluidity of continuous casting tundish
When the tundish has no flow control device, as the depth of the ladle shroud is gradually deepened, the fraction of the dead zone in the tundish gradually increases, the integral number of piston fluid gradually decreases, and the initial response time of each nozzle gradually decreases. Among them, when the insertion depth of the ladle shroud is 150mm, the response time of each nozzle of the tundish is the shortest, the volume fraction of the dead zone is the largest, the integral number of the piston fluid is the smallest, the flow mode of the molten steel is not ideal, and the nozzle is more susceptible to corrosion by the molten steel during the production process , the difficulty of floating inclusions in molten steel increases; when the insertion depth of the ladle shroud is 70mm, the parameters that affect the flow pattern of the tundish steel are the best, but when the insertion depth is small, it will easily cause the liquid level to fluctuate, and in serious cases, it will cause slag entrapment. When the insertion depth of the nozzle is 110mm, the molten steel has a certain residence time in the tundish and dead zone. The integral number of piston fluid is moderate, and there is no large fluctuation in the liquid steel surface. Therefore, about 110mm is the appropriate depth of insertion of the ladle shroud.
